Palm Pre Soon To Be
Palm’s new Pre is set to come out the first week of June! While I can’t get enough of my Blackberry Curve 8900, I’m interested to see the Palm perform. Will it be the iPhone killer as presumed? Needless to say, I hope so!
No no, I’m not an iPhone hater (today atleast), but it’s time to change things up. I’m getting a bit tired iPhone this and App that. Big whoop 3.0 is being released. Copy and Paste! Search your phone! MMS! OMG! All things that should have already been there. Pulling away from the iPhone rant, the Pre has high hopes. Will it be Palm’s savior? Let’s face it, if the Pre booms, no more Palm. We will find out in s few weeks! You’ve Got a Booger: Allow Me to Pick It!
Apparently, each year the USTR (United States Trade Representative) comes out with a “special” report that entails all the countries to watch out for. We’re not really talking about a national security issue. This list basically indicates the countries that aren’t living up to ‘US standards’ to “strengthen IP laws or step up enforcement against piracy”. On top of this list, China and Russia of course.
So once again, we are sticking our fingers in other peoples business, saying “your not doing a good enough job”. We’ve become the Lisa Simpson of the world. Always thinking we have the right answer and everyone else doesn’t have the capability to produce any type of valid thought.
Ever heard of the IIPA (International Intellectual Property Alliance)? It’s basically a collective of copyright industry trade groups including some of the following:
- Business Software Alliance
- Entertainment Software Association
- Motion Picture Association of America
- Recording Industry Association of America
The IIPA’s task is to “improve the international protection and enforcement of copyrighted materials.” The IIPA contains all US based organizations, yet it indicates that it’s goal is to improve international protection. They (IIPA) also came out with a list of countries to “watch out for”. But something is definitely missing. Aaa yes, the “international” part. There doesn’t seem to be much international about it at all except for the fact that they producing useless list with names of countries that don’t think like us.
While these list indicate that countries like China contain “high levels of copyright piracy and trademark counterfeiting remain serious concerns”, it never indicates what China has done, currently is doing and what plans to do in the future to address this concern. No no. Don’t bother indicating that.
I mentioned that these list contain names of countries that don’t think like us. And how exactly do we think? Take a look at number of the list above. If you are living in today’s generation, that says it all. We are to think that everyone is a thief. Hell, even if you bought that CD and ripped it to put the tracks on your iPod, your a thief.
While I love to rant and rave, consider this an educational piece. You just learned something, so do some more research and think about the fact that China and Russia are two countries on top of these list.
Rubik Cube Goes High Tech
I remember Classic Rubik Cube, where you had to physically move the pieces. That’s old skol. Time for an upgrade to the digital world. Introducing the Rubik’s TouchCube. It’s a little more sleek than the Rubik’s 360, yet still gives you the classic Rubik’s feel.
The Rubik’s TouchCube is completely electronic and while it keeps the same shape as the Classic Rubik Cube, you want have any colored stickers. Prepare to have colored lights. But wait!. There’s more! To rearrange the cube (blocks), simply swipe your finger across its surface. Can someone say sick! The Rubik’s TouchCube will hopefully come out before Christmas. Since I know you can’t wait that long, see these video to calm your nerves.

“I ate that last piece of pie you were saving for yourself.”
Red Xbox 360 Elite
Title says it all! Below is a screen capture of a Toys R Us terminal indicating an already produced product SKU of a rumored Red Xbox 360 Elite. If true, it’ll be sick.
Pirate Bay on Trial Years Later
I’m a fan of Pirate Bay. To me, they are innovators, pioneers and started something that essentially has changed the face of business itself. So while it does not come as a surprise that the “Man” (Record Labels) want to see that the Pirate Bay Team go to jail for up to two years and pay fines over $13 million dollars!
The operators of The Pirate Bay have violated those rights and, as the evidence in Court will show, they did so to make substantial revenues for themselves. That kind of abuse of the rights of others cannot be allowed to continue, and that is why these criminal proceedings are so important for the health of the creative community.
Clearly that’s some bull. Frankly, I’m sick of theses record labels. Just check out the article from Ars Technica.
Get Gmail Offline!
You got Gmail? If so, things are getting better for you!
Gmail is releasing a new service allowing you to check your WebMail without even an internet connection!
How will it work you ask? You could easily look it up yourself, but I guess I gotta do everything for you. Well first you’ll need to have Google’s software “Google Gears” installed (IE, Firefox or Safari - Already on Chrome). Once you have Gears, you’ll need to click on the green beaker icon (Google Labs) by your Gmail address at the top of your email page. Find the app and activate it.
Your messages will be downloaded to your browsers cache, so when your not online, they will still be available. Once back online, everything will sync up.
Sounds simply enough! So what are you waiting for. Don’t get cut off when your internet goes down while writing me hate mail.
DTV Transition Still on for February
If your reading this, you should know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, stop reading now and go to this site.
As you know, the transition was originally set to take place in February, but the Senate amongst others wanted to put it off until June. They see what I see, which is that we are not ready! (I don’t count. I’m good since I have a cable box.)
Unfortunately, the government is running out of vouchers for people to pick up these converter boxes. That means people who still have old school TV’s and rabbit ear antennas will have to manage with the cost of the converters.
If you ask me, that bogus. Why should anyone have to pay for these boxes at all? It should be free! This isn’t England where you need to have a license just to OWN a TV (It’s true - look it up).
On top of all this, lets face it, many Americans won’t be ready for the change and will be assed out come February. As per a report generated from Nielsen , 6.5 million households will not be ready for service by February.
At any rate, I’ve seen what DTV looks like on a newer TV. FREAKIN’ AMAZING! Really clear quality, plus additional channels! The pros really sound great. It’s just a shame so many won’t be able to experience it for a while.
